Thank you for visiting Belly Dance by Shaula!
My name is Joylyn, I am a Belly Dance Instructor and I perform belly dance as Shaula. I started taking classes in 2007 and performing with Bahiyya Almas Belly Dance Company in California in 2008.
When it was time to pick a "performer name", I did lots of research and eventually chose Shaula. At the time, it was the brightest star in the sky. However, it was further from earth than other brighter stars that get more attention. I felt it was appropriate and I liked the way it sounded.
I have since performed and taught in several cities and states across the U.S. It has been fun, exciting, difficult, and rewarding! I absolutely love dancing and the joy that it brings to the world! It inspires me to see artists who put so much time and effort into their craft to create amazing art for others to enjoy! It is a beautiful community to be a part of and I am extremely grateful for it every day!
Basically, I love to dance, make people smile, and smile while I watch others dance!
This is why my I celebrate and inspire "Dance from the Heart!"
